Speakers at Water Management in Mining WA Include:

Planning for water supply, storage, usage and discharge at all stages of the mine life cycle

Water Management in Mining WA is Australia’s second annual water resource management event that connects water, engineering, operational and environmental specialists who are taking on the water usage and climate change challenges of the future. The Water Management in Mining WA conference will discuss the current projects and guidelines in WA around integrated water management, water quality in mining, groundwater management and water technology strategies to create a sustainable mine water plan. We have created a resource centre with information on water management in mining.

Since its launch in 2010, this event has drawn in over 80 delegates from across Australia. This time, we have brought the event back to Perth to focus on the particular challenges mining expansion in WA will pose for its water resources.

Right now, we are putting the focus on your key challenges, namely that of water concerns delaying the environmental approvals process and ultimately the operations and productivity of the mine site. Water Management in Mining has been developed to support miners and regulators in identifying the water issues early in the project at the planning stage, rather than as a regulatory afterthought.

The focus of Water Management in Mining WA includes:

  • Working with mines, stakeholders and communities to assess climate variability and water usage policies
  • Successfully planning for a secure water supply and efficient plant and system design
  • Using the Pilbara Water in Mining Guidelines and life of mine planning to streamline your approvals process
  • Keeping track of water balances to ensure water security for the present and future
  • Managing groundwater impact on mining operations from the start of project lifecycle to post mine closure
  • Assessing quality and quantity of discharges including level of treatment of wastewater and impact on surrounding communities

Testimonials from our speakers:

“Your audience is one of the most engaged of any conference that I have participated in to date. This is an event that attracts the serious industry professionals.”
Mariajose Romero-Segura, Superintendent Environment, ARGYLE DIAMONDS LTD
“Water Management in Mining WA has brought together key case studies of the mining industry to give a highly informative insight into the future direction for sustainable water use and supply – a must attend event.”
Nadene Baldwin, Superintendent Environment, ARGYLE DIAMONDS LTD
“Water Management in Mining will be providing the latest information on the achievement of water management initiatives in Australia; I am very pleased to be a part of it.”
Stuart Ritchie, Manager Environmental Services, RIO TINTO COAL AUSTRALIA
“Water Management in Mining, after work place health and safety, is probably the mining operational issue of most concern. A timely, topical conference I am pleased to be part of.”
Wayne Boyd, Senior Research Officer, Centre for Environmental Management, CQ UNIVERSITY
“It is very motivating to see people mobilised around water management in mining, supported by timely topics and excellent industry representation.”
Dr Graham Jacobs MLA, Minister for Water; Mental Health WA
“Sustainable water management is a key issue for all stages of the mining life cycle. However, a different subset of water sustainability issues typically needs to be considered when planning for cost effective rehabilitation and closure. This conference provides the opportunity to address the water issues of the post operations phase, which may be the longest period of a mine’s life.”
